Part of a series of paintings that deconstruct the narrative process. Having always been interested in storytelling, I decided to examine the very nature of how and why we tell stories. Each image in this series illustrates a different aspect/structural element of narrative. The images focus on concepts such as conflict, resolution, the idea of the status quo, the hero's transformation and the eternal return. The protagonist is just that, the very embodiment of the "hero" - his suit, a modern representative of a knights armor also doubles as the "burden only he can wear."
I had a lot of fun on this series. They are all watercolor, with the exception of "The Guide" which is oil on gessoed paper. Each image is 22x30 inches (56x76 cm).
very interesting, I can imagine a movie inside of your painting! The shoes and the hands are so natural, more than realistic... I´ve been searching the painting of your avatar, it´s my favourite, did you deletedit?
Thank you so much - I've always had a fascination with space in art. I try to incorporate it into every piece I do - even when the space is not readily apparent. As for my avatar, the masterminds of dA saw fit to delete my painting even though it a mature content filter on it. The first time I thought it an accident but the second time I figured someone just didn't like it. Funny that the very same painting resides on both my myspace and facebook accounts without any issue... If you'd like to see it in full you can see it on my website [link] Just go to the painting page and click on the third thumbnail. The piece is entitled DIRTY DIRTY LOVE: The Embrace I.
lol, well, sort of. I was studying the actual process of storytelling so in a way, even though I didn't have an overall story it came out that way anyway. Plus, i've always been a film/theater enthusiast so it's only natural that i treat my work with a certain cinematic approach.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
