For many different reasons I've contemplated having a blog. Mainly, I always wanted a place where I could post updates about my work that would also act as an archive. I've also become fed up with the censorship problems that plague Facebook and to a certain extent, Deviant Art. I understand both websites and their respective censorship policies - both are just trying not to rile the masses. Unfortunately it's prohibitive to the kind of work I do and ultimately, I want to be able to reach more people. Facebook and Deviant Art, for all their strengths, are still closed networks that require participation in order to view content. Case in point, I was recently contacted by an artist in China who was unable to view my work due to government restriction.
Enter, the blog. I plan on posting tons of images and updates about what I'm working on, the stories behind each painting, invitations to upcoming events, tutorials and other miscellany I might find pertinent. I'm still going to keep my DA and Facebook accounts - they are a wonderful way to reach a ton of people and actively keep people in the loop. But for content that's too racy for Facebook and Deviant Art or for people who may not have accounts on either site, my blog will be the way to go.
So check it out and let me know what you think. It's all very new to me so I appreciate your comments.

your work is too good for DA anyways, and I'll be looking forward to following your blog.
Cheers!
