I just signed a lease for a new studio space in southern CT! I know it doesn't sound like much but I'm pretty freaking excited. I haven't been in a proper studio in over 5 years. I move in March 15th so expect photos and updates and more importantly, expect a lot more work as I'll finally be able to spread out and work on MORE THAN ONE PIECE AT A TIME!!!!!!

Woo-Hoo!

UPDATE:
I downloaded a few photos of the space I took yesterday. The studio is located in an old lace factory in Norwalk, CT, built in the late 1800's. My studio will be 300sqft or 28m2 (if my math is correct).

Here is a photo of the raw space as it exists right now:

And here is a super-quick Photoshop rendering of how it's going to look after I have the walls built and the space cleaned up. Please note that the bottom curvature of the front wall is due to lens distortion:

Now it is my turn to be jealous! I've been working out of a converted walk-in closet for years now, and to have the space to spread out would be so wonderful. Keep up the good work!

Well for the past 2 years I've had to cram my desk into 1) a corner in our bedroom and 2) a corner of the basement. I think finding this place is god paying me for my monastic-like perseverance.

Soooo jealous.

I've been thinking daily about how much I want a small studio/office space for my creative work. Even something too small to be a photo studio would be wonderful-- Environment has so much power over creative work.

I completely agree. I had a few great set ups in NYC, including a 2 bedroom apt where the 2nd bedroom was my studio, but since moving to CT 2 years ago I've been eking out work spaces in unoccupied corners of our house. It's been crap to say the least. I'll have enough room in this new space for a modest photo studio, digital and traditional work spaces, and a lounge/break area. I feel like I'm finally all growed-up.

Enjoy the new setup! I'll be dreaming of a little B&E to make use of it myself. ;)
